Shadow:  The hero is inadequate in judging himself inferior.
Gift:  In the deep black forest (well) he finds the resources he needs to win the hand of the princess.
Siddhi:  He wins the fight and marries the princess. 
The evil one turns out to be cursed himself and gets restored in the end, resulting in deep wiedom about the game of life.
